Samuel Nortman MD

Associate Professor

Samuel D. Nortman, MD, is an Associate Professor of Clinical Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and of Clinical Neurosurgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He serves as Medical Director and Section Chief of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center, where he has cared for Veterans since 2007. Dr. Nortman received his MD from Indiana University School of Medicine, completed his PM&R residency at MetroHealth Medical Center / Case Western Reserve University, and completed a fellowship in interventional spine, pain, and musculoskeletal medicine at the University of Florida. He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with subspecialty certification in Sports Medicine. His clinical work centers on the non-surgical evaluation and treatment of spine and musculoskeletal conditions, including image-guided interventional procedures and electrodiagnostic medicine. He is the Residency Site Director for the CU PM&R program at the VA. He served as site principal investigator for a VA Rehabilitation R&D multicenter study of outcomes following lumbar decompressive laminectomy.
