1. Go to My Account Page at United Healthcare Student Resources
2. Select the ‘Create Account’ link or login to My Account.
3. Enter your First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Student ID, and click ‘next’. (If you do not have your SR ID, enter your email address in ‘B’ and your Student ID in ‘C’, and then click ‘next’).
4. Create a Username and Password, then click ‘next’ to complete your account set-up.
5. Click ‘ID Card’ to print, view, or request an ID card.

Unfortunately we do not offer health insurance for domestic students. We recommend purchasing a plan through the Connect for Health Colorado marketplace, the official State Health Insurance Exchange for Colorado. Open enrollment occurs every fall. Check the website for this year’s enrollment period. If you have missed the enrollment deadline, you may be able to qualify to enroll under certain scenarios. If you cannot enroll, we recommend looking at eHealth for the time being.

No. CU Denver’s ISHIP does not cover spouses, children, or other dependents. Students seeking coverage for dependents should contact the Senior International Student Health Insurance Coordinator for options. You will need to find a policy that allows an F-2/J-2 dependent to buy individual coverage without the F-1/J-1 student being on the same policy. Many dedicated international student insurance policies require the primary F-1 visa holder to be the main insured party on the policy.

The US Department of State requires all those in J-1 status to maintain health insurance for themselves, and for any dependents in J-2 status, for the entire period of the program indicated on the DS-2019. Health insurance policies for J-2 dependents must meet U.S. Department of State requirements (under Insurance).

International students are generally ineligible for Medicaid due to residency and visa restrictions, but you may explore more for your dependents.

No, our plan does not cover vision or comprehensive dental benefits. You can go to places such as Target Optical for an affordable eye exam. Insureds are eligible to one dental exam, cleaning, and x-ray per policy year at a Preferred In-Network Dental Provider. You can visit the CU School of Dental Medicine on the Anschutz Medical Campus for quality dental care at reduced prices. You can also call local dental offices and ask if they offer any discounts for students or self-pay patients. The Health Center at Auraria does not offer these services, but does have a list of Denver area resources.

Yes! UHCSR provides free language services to help you communicate with them. They offer interpreters, letters in other languages, and letters in other formats, like large print. To get help after activating your insurance, please call 1-866-260-2723 or call the toll-free member number listed on your insurance ID card.”

By law, only the insured can access their secured healthcare information in My Account. But, if you need someone else to act on your behalf, you can complete and submit a Personal Representative Appointment within your My Account page or via the UHCSR app.

EOB stands for Explanation of Benefits. This is a document your insurer will send you to let you know a claim has been processed.

Students graduating in the Fall will have coverage effective through December 31st.  Students graduating in the Spring or Summer will have coverage effective through July 31st. 

Graduates can opt-in for 1-3 months of Continuation Coverage through CU Denver ISHIP after the end of their graduation term. For example, an ISHIP insured student who graduates in Fall would be eligible to enroll in coverage from 1/1 to 3/31, while a Spring graduate would have the option from 8/1 to 10/31. Coverage must be purchased within 14 days after the expiration date of your previous coverage. Upcoming graduates can reach out to the ISHIP office via email for more details. Only students who were enrolled in CU Denver ISHIP for the semester in which they are graduating will be eligible for Continuation Coverage.

You can receive the HPV vaccination at the Immunization Clinic at Denver Health. Their phone number is 303-602-3520. You will need to bring your insurance ID card with you.

The UHCSR policy for the HPV vaccine is approved for females before age 27. Males can also be covered under the healthcare reform preventive care (ACA) guidelines, but they have to qualify under certain risk factors.

Yes.​ ​The student must use the services of the Health Center at Auraria first, where outpatient treatment will be administered or referral issued. Expenses incurred for medical treatment rendered outside of the Health Center for which no prior approval or referral is obtained are excluded from the coverage of the benefits otherwise payable under the Schedule of Benefits. A referral issued by the Health Center must accompany the claim when submitted. Only one referral is required for each Injury or Sickness per Policy Year. ​Dependents are not eligible to use the Health Center and therefore are exempt from these limitations and requirements.

A Health Center referral for outside care is not necessary only under any of the following conditions:

1. Medical Emergency. The student must return to the Health Center for necessary follow-up care.
2. When the Health Center is closed.
3. When service is rendered at another facility during break or vacation periods.
4. Medical care received when the student is more than 10 miles from campus.
5. Medical care obtained when a student is no longer able to use the Health Center due to a change in student status.
6. Maternity and obstetrical care.
7. Mental Illness Treatment and Substance Use Disorder treatment
